New in CMIP-6
CMIP-6 is
new generation of Coupled Model
Inter-comparison Projects (CMIP) after CMIP-5 and
fifth assessment report (AR5) of IPCC.
1: Total institute participated: 49 Institute in CMIP-6.
2: Total experiment: more than 300 Experiment
3: Variant Label: There are r_i_p_f whereas in CMIP-5 there was only r_i_p

Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) in CMIP-6
1: SSP126 which is update of RCP2.6 but based on SSP1
Data of future
scenario (2015-2100) having low radiative forcing by the end of century.
Similar to RCP2.6 and based on shared socioeconomic pathways (SSP1).
2: SSP245 which is update of RCP4.5 but based on SSP2
Data of future scenario (2015-2100/2300) having medium radiative forcing
by the end of century. Similar to approximately RCP4.5 and based on shared
socioeconomic pathways (SSP2).
3: SSP460 which is update of RCP 6.0 but based on SSP4
Data of future scenario (2015-2100) having medium radiative forcing by
the end of century. Similar to approximately RCP 6.0 and based on shared
socioeconomic pathways (SSP4).
4: SSP585 which is update of RCP 8.5 but based on SSP5
Data of future scenario (2015-2100/2300) having high radiative forcing
by the end of century. Similar to approximately RCP 8.5 and based on shared
socioeconomic pathways (SSP5).
Other SSPs in CMIP-6
5: SSP119 (Mitigation)
Future data
(2015-2100) and low radiative forcing (1.9 W/m2) at end of 2100 and based
SSP1.
6: SSP370 (baseline)
Future scenario
data (2015-2100) based on SSP3 and having high radiative forcing (7.0 W/m2) near
2100. Fills gap in RCP forcing pathways between 6.0 and 8.5 W/m2.
7: SSP3-LowNTCF (Mitigation):
This is mitigation
scenario types based on SSP3 and having the 6.3 W/m2 radiative facing near
2100.
8: SSP434 (Mitigation):
Future scenario
data (2015-2100) based on SSP4 and low radiative forcing (3.4 W/m2) near 2100.
Fills gap in RCP forcing pathways between 4.5 and 2.6 W/m2.
9:SSP534-OS (Mitigation):
This is mitigation
scenario types based on SSP5 and having the 3.4 W/m2 radiative facing near
2100.
Note:
Here in CMIP-6 the SSPs scenarios
data are providing from 2015-2100 whereas historical data are given from
1850 to 2014.
